What is Keto? Ketones are a byproduct of burning fat. They are used for fuel and happen when you lower your carb intake. When this happens, you are in ketosis. How one gets into ketosis is by reducing the number of carbs you eat down to about 20-50 grams per day. The hormone that stores fat are what carbs stimulate and that hormone is called insulin. When you have too much insulin your body cannot burn fat. To get into a ketosis state, in which you are burning fat instead of glucose, you must adapt your body to fat burning. By switching your body’s fuel source to high-quality nutrients and fewer carbs you can go into ketosis anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks.
